Coldean Primary School, Brighton

Coldean Primary School received 50 tree saplings from ERS to help set up their own School Tree Nursery in March 2017. Teacher Donna Kitchener has kindly provided these photos and an update on the school’s tree nursery below.

“Thank you so much for the fabulous trees that we received.  They have proven to be robust saplings as we have had to spread out the time needed to plant them and thankfully the trees have continued to blossom.  Because of the number of trees, and the variety, we received from yourselves, we have been able to plant in various parts of our school site including our Forest School area, main outside field to provide shelter and some along our boundary to maintain a green border between us and a very busy road.  Children from both gardening club and Forest School sessions have benefited from learning more about the nature around them in our environment and for taking care of the saplings that have been planted.  We even have ‘Tree Buddies’ who have willingly taken on the responsibility of ensuring the trees are taken care of whilst they settle in at Coldean.”
