UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021 - 2030

The Earth Restoration Service has during the past two decades worked with dedication to regenerate wild nature and restore degraded environments in the UK. We have planted more than 60,000 trees and planted thousands of wildflowers at hundreds of UK schools, working with multiple stakeholders and with the support kindly provided from numerous partners. This is to restore depleted natural areas, while teaching the next generation about the importance of nature and ecosystems in the process.

In the decade to come, we have joined the #GenerationRestoration movement, where we will be an active part of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration from 2021-2030. We will continue to share out stories and bring out the important message of restoration to further the cause, as we plant new small woodlands, wildflower meadows and hedgerow habitats with local communities.

We have a mission of ‘proactive ecosystem restoration worldwide’, and so we will now also embark on the journey of carrying out our nature restoration efforts beyond UK borders as an official supporter of the UN Decade.

“The UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration is a rallying call for the protection and revival of ecosystems all around the world, for the benefit of people and nature. It aims to halt the degradation of ecosystems, and restore them to achieve global goals. Only with healthy ecosystems can we enhance people’s livelihoods, counteract climate change, and stop the collapse of biodiversity.”

The Earth Restoration Service believes whole-heartedly that now is a crucial time for everyone to do their part. We are soon reaching a point of no return for our ecosystems as we know them. As the strategy of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration states, this decade is not only about restoring depleted ecosystems. It is also about restoring people’s connection to nature and make it last beyond 2030. So for centuries to come, societies around the world will be on a trajectory that will include:

  • Nature being respected across society;

  • Ecosystem restoration taking place over hundreds of millions of hectares and generating millions of new livelihoods;

  • Human rights, with a focus on gender equity, youth, local communities, indigenous peoples and future generations, being central to restoration initiatives;

  • Global supply chains and consumption patterns being shifted to protect, sustainably manage and restore nature;

  • Long-term scientific research being used to guide restoration initiatives;

  • The value of nature being a central pillar of national systems that assess economic well-being.

Join our environmental Restoration efforts!

In order to make our ecological restoration work continue and grow, we are always looking for partners to join us! Whether you are a school that would like to be part of planting a new small woodland in their community, a wildflower meadow in their grounds to help pollinators or a hedgerow to create a new habitat and wildlife corridor. Or if you are a business, organisation or foundation of any size that would like to help fund and make these efforts happen during these crucial times for our environment.

We would love to hear from all of you!

Reach out to us on info@earthrestorationservice.org or have a look in the Support Us section to find further information on how you can become part of our restoration movement in the decade to come. All schools can submit their info on our website here to show their interest in participating in any of our environmental restoration programmes.
