Delamere Academy planting trees with our partner

This winter, we formed a great partnership with SpeedyFreight, who supported us with donating trees and wildflowers to 30 schools around the UK.

Their individual office branches nominated schools in their area to receive the plants. We also supported them by reaching out to a number of schools on our waiting list interested in taking part.

In November, we donated wildflowers to 20 schools, from Brighton to Edinburgh.

Have a look at this lovely video of wildflower planting at schools in Lancashire and Greater Manchester.

In January, the trees were then in a proper hibernating state. Something that unfortunately has taken longer in recent years due to a warming climate. We then donated small tree saplings to the remaining schools, so they could start their journey with a tree nursery.

Speedy Freight employees joined students and teachers at a few schools across the country to help them plant the trees and wildflowers. You can read a great story about their tree planting at Delamere Academy in Norwich below.

School gets new native woodland after haulage firm partners with eco-charity

“PRIMARY school kids near Northwich have been getting their hands dirty while doing their bit for the planet. Delamere C of E Academy is one of 30 schools nominated by local businesses to host news woodlands and wildflower meadows within their school grounds. The businesses are all customers of haulage firm Speedy Freight, which is funding the scheme with guidance and support from the ecological charity, Earth Restoration Service.”

We are looking forward to hearing about how the trees and wildflowers are doing in the future. Hopefully having contributed to make the school areas greener, but also been a part of student’s environmental learning.
