Earth Restoration Project

Greater London

Our ERS representative Trudi Selleck worked with Grand Ave Primary School’s Environment Group to set up a School Tree Nursery.

‘Thank you for a wonderful day, the children were all very excited about what they were doing and it was the talk of the playground!’

Broadwater Primary School, Tooting -  ERS has delivered 50 native Ash and Oak for their tree nursery to eventually replenish their London areas.   There will be one assigned to each class, each child in the Eco Club will have a tree and also each child that sees a Learning mentor.  This project is very important for Broadwater to take part in a project that shows the importance of sustainable development within the school environment and the wider community. It is hoped that the project will be a resource for both Eco Club and classes of all ages in understanding the role of trees in tackling climate change and creating habitat for wildlife.

Marion Richardson School, London - they would like to encourage the children to consider their environment and how they can support and develop it.  The trees arrived, and all were surprised that 50 trees could be so small. They have 25 Ash and 25 Hornbeam.  The children were very excited about this and they agreed that they would plant them in pots for the winter. They have a perfect spot for them, with some winter sunshine and safe from frost and children knocking them over. They planted them in the classroom and then moved them very carefully outside.   The trees once reached maturity can be out planted to replenish their local environment.

Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Language College, London - 50 native trees have been planted in a newly established tree nursery in their college grounds.
